The start of the race is about half a mile down the street in
the direction you are looking. By the time I got out on the
course to take photographs, traffic in the downtown area was
hectic because it had been taken over by Cinco de Mayo
celebrations. The start line is on the street just outside the
St. Michaels hotel. (See the second slide in the second set.)
The race begins with an uphill that's enough to get a runner
huffing and puffing sooner than he'd like, then hits this
downhill for a brief respite. See the next slide for the view
looking the other way.
