The late afternoon sun cast my shadow across the track as I took these pictures of the tents that had been put up so far. Things got a lot more crowded the next day. Mine had my chair and card table set up in front of it, but these were put away for that night, when we went to my brother's house to sleep, and were pulled down to the edge of the track during the race.
I didn't know until morning that the blue tent in the center belongs to eventual 24-hour winner Peter Bakwin, whose entourage included his wife Stephanie Ehret, overall 24-hour winner the previous two years, and Stephanie's parents. Her father Richard, age 68, covered 75 miles. Collectively they make one mighty good running family.
